Our vision is a world free from meningitis and septicaemia. Meningitis Research Foundation fights death and disability by funding vital scientific research into the prevention and treatment of meningitis and septicaemia, raising awareness of the diseases and offering support through in depth information and befriending. Meningitis and septicaemia are diseases that can affect anyone at any age, but most cases are in babies, toddlers and young adults. They remain the major infectious cause of death in children in the UK.
Since the charity was founded in 1989, we have invested over £18.6 million in vital scientific research and have awarded 147 research. Our research has led to many advances, including identifying the red flag early symptoms of the diseases, developing a widely used guideline for treating meningitis and septicaemia in hospitals and a prevention guideline to reduce cases in newborn babies.
We would be grateful is you could support us through Great Scottish Events and help us come closer to realising our vision of a world free from meningitis and septicaemia.
